Chronologically introducing the museum’s huge collection, the volume focuses on artists and works of the period from 1946 to 1969. The volume provides observation and analysis of Taiwanese artistic developments from a variety of perspectives. It introduces each artist briefly and straightforwardly and illustrates the tenor of the artist’s work with a single representative image. The works are conveniently organized by artistic medium.
I sincerely hope that the publication of this English-language edition will bring Taiwanese artists and the rich collection of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum to the attention of the world. I offer this hope as a tribute to the volume’s publication.
